Eighth-Ranked Saint Leo Falls to No. 7 West Florida, 6-3

Nicholson-Lewis and Lozier Take Down No. 10 Peyrot and Sano at No. 2 Doubles

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The eighth-ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team was unable to take down the seventh-ranked University of West Florida Argonauts on Saturday afternoon, falling by a score of 6-3 at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.  The loss drops Saint Leo to a mark of 7-3, while West Florida stays perfect on the season with a record of 10-0.

The Lions trailed 2-1 after doubles, with the UWF duo of Bruno Savi and Tony Rajaobelina defeating Oskar Nurmio and Aloua Adjenak, 8-0 at No. 1 doubles, followed by Felipe Frattini and Elio Latella taking down Fons Verberne and Ismail Lemtouni, 8-5 at the No. 3 slot.

The Saint Leo tandem of Matt Nicholson-Lewis and Victor Lozier made it count on the court, toppling the No. 10 duo of Alex Peyrot and Domenico Sano, 8-5 at No. 2 doubles to close out the opening round of the match.

West Florida opened up singles action with a quick win at No. 1 singles as No. 1 Savi took down Adjenak, 6-2, 6-0, before Peyrot closed out at No. 2 singles with a 6-3, 6-0 decision over Nurmio to give UWF a 4-1 lead.

No. 16 Kenny Brasil earned the Argos' fifth win of the day at No. 3 singles, taking down No. 50 Lemtouni, 7-5, 6-0, followed by an Argonaut win at No. 5 singles as No. 26 Frattini defeated Lozier, 6-2, 6-1.  Nicholson –Lewis picked up a victory at the No. 4 slot, defeating Latella 6-4, 2-6, 10-6, followed by another Saint Leo victory at No. 6 singles as Jacobo Gonzalez-Tarrio took down Douglas Boe, 6-3, 5-7, 10-7 to close out the day.

The Saint Leo men's tennis team returns to action on Wednesday, March 12, when they host Saint Mary's (Texas), at the Saint Leo Tennis Center.  Match time is slated for 3 p.m.
