Third-ranked Lions drop first game of season in 1-0 loss to Rollins

Agyei Boateng leads team with four shots

WINTER PARK, Fla. (October 12, 2014) – The third-ranked Saint Leo men's soccer team was unable to capitalize on their offensive press, falling to the Rollins College Tars by a final score of 1-0 at Barker Family Stadium and Cahall Sandspur Field in Winter Park, Fla.

The loss marks the Lions' only one so far this season, and sets them at 7-1-2, and 3-1-0 in Sunshine State Conference play.  The Tars advance their overall record to 6-4-1, and 2-2-1 in the SSC.

The lone goal of the game was scored by Evan Greenbaum, who collected a loose ball inside the box after a corner kick from Skyler Russell.  Greenbaum was able to sneak a shot past Manuel Schoenhuber, to put the Tars on the board in the 17th minute of action, and the Lions were unable to answer back despite firing off 13 shots throughout the course of the match.

Saint Leo led the shot count, 13-11, but the Tars held in the slight advantage in shots-on-goal, 3-2.  Schoenhuber earned two saves on the night, both in the first half, while his counterpart, Parker Sweeney, collected to saves in the second stanza.  Rollins held the edge in the foul count, 9-5 after 90 minutes of play.

Melvin Agyei Boateng led the game in shots with 4, while Maximilian Schulze-Geisthovel was able to get off three of his own.

The Saint Leo men's soccer team will look to rebound back to their winning ways on Tuesday, October 14, when they host Eckerd College at University Field.  Game time against the Tritons is set for 7 p.m.
