SAVANNAH, Ga. – The 12th-ranked Saint Leo men's tennis team passed the season's first test with flying colors on Saturday night as the Lions defeated no. 16 Georgia College, 6-3 on Saturday at Bacon Park.
Head Coach James Bryce's crew managed to overcome losses at no. 3 doubles and nos. 1 and 2 singles as they ran the table at nos. 3-6 singles. Victor Lozier, Matt Nicholson-Lewis, Ismail Lemtouni and Jacobo Gonzalez-Tarrio all remained undefeated on the season after posting singles victories.
Always in control of the match despite its close nature, the Lions managed 8-4 and 8-5 victories respectively at nos. 1 and 2 doubles.
The victory put the Lions in the position for Sunday morning's matchup against the nation's top team in Armstrong. The Lions and Pirates will get the match underway at 11:00 a.m. at Bacon Park in Savannah, Ga.
