Seventh-ranked Lions Overpower No. 26 Tampa, 8-1

TAMPA, Fla. – The No. 7 Saint Leo women's tennis team improved to 7-2 overall and 3-1 in the Sunshine State Conference after the Lions picked up a dominating 8-1 win over the 26th-ranked University of Tampa in conference tennis action on Wednesday afternoon.

The Lions picked up wins at every spot except no. 1 doubles including a thrilling No. 6 singles matchup featuring Phoebe Di Leo earning a tough 7-5, 7-5 straight sets victory over Tampa's Jenelle Morgan. In addition to DiLeo, Coralie Pesenti, Pauline Helgesson Maria Benkirane, Emily Singleton and Adrianna Daszkiewicz all picked up wins to help the Lions sweep through singles.

The Lions now look to return to the Saint Leo Tennis Center to face Rockhurst on Tuesday, March 5. The match is scheduled to get underway at 3:00 p.m.
