WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – It wasn't a straightforward as Coach James Bryce might have liked, but the No. 12 Saint Leo women's tennis team held off host Palm Beach Atlantic University in a 7-2 decision in action from south Florida on Saturday afternoon.
It would be the depth of Saint Leo (5-2) that proved too much for PBA (5-4) in the NCAA South Region victory. The Lions swept through doubles with the PBA No. 2-doubles providing the biggest hurdle as Saint Leo earned a 9-7 victory.
Saint Leo dropped No. 1 and 2 singles, but the Lions claimed the bottom four singles to earn the victory in the match.
The Lions will head to Miami Shores, Fla. to face Barry University in a Sunday morning Sunshine State Conference showdown.
