No.17 Women's Tennis Fall to No.12 Columbus State, 7-2

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's tennis team (9-4) saw their four match winning-streak come to an end as No.12 Columbus State (10-0) took down the Lions, 7-2, Friday afternoon from the Saint Leo Tennis Center.

Sickness and injury saw a reorganized Lions' lineup take the court, but it was the Cougars who collected a doubles sweep, as well as four-of-six matches on the singles side to clinch the win.

Maria Benkirane gave the Lions convincing win at No.4 singles as she downed Madeline Johnson in straight sets, 6-2, 6-2, while Adrianna Daszkiewicz stunned No.36 Carolin Weikard, 6-4, 6-3.

Saint Leo will return to the court on Friday, March 16, when they host Bentley. First serve is set for 3 p.m.
