Women's Soccer Falls to Nova Southeastern in 4-0 Loss

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University women's soccer team (2-7-1, 1-4-1 SSC) dropped their second consecutive Sunshine State Conference match to the Nova Southeastern Sharks (3-5-1, 2-3-0 SSC) by a score of 4-0, Saturday evening from Saint Leo University field.

The first goal came in the fourth minute of the game, when Nova Southeastern's Stephanie Moench sent a corner kick towards the Saint Leo goal and connected with her teammate Dilja Olafsdottir, who propelled a header past Lions' goalkeeper, Abby Evans.

Just three minutes later, the Sharks notched their second goal as Malin Broberg sent a pass from the left side of the field and Elizabeth Haumschild slotted a shot past the hands of Evans into the back of the net.

With just four minutes left to go in the first half, the Sharks offense teamed up and forced a joint assist by Sierra Lelii and Sarah Keville to Haumschild, who blasted a shot into the net from 30-yds. out.

Nova Southeastern continued their attack during the second half, tacking on another goal in the 52nd minute.

With 10:39 left to go in the second half, two lightning delays caused the match to end prematurely.

The Lions will return to action on Monday, Oct. 8 as they take on the Florida Southern Moccasins in Sunshine State Conference action. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. from Barnett Field.
