No.24 Men's Soccer Drops SSC Road Contest to Tritons, 2-0

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – An aggressive Eckerd College (6-3-0, 1-1-0 SSC) offense helped the Tritons to a 2-0 upset win over the No.24-ranked Saint Leo men's soccer, Wednesday evening from the Turley Athletic Complex.

The Tritons did all their damage in the second half as they posted two tallies during the final 23 minutes of action to complete the upset.

After a scoreless first half which featured Eckerd collecting the majority of scoring chances, the Tritons broke through in the 77th-minute Turner Humphires slotted a loose ball into the right corner of the net.

Daniel Lopez topped the scoring for Eckerd four minutes later in the 81st-minute as a solo run from the top of the area was footed in from 15 yards out.

The Lions were not without chances, however, as three of the 11 shots ended up on target.

Despite seven saves, McKenzey Scott took for the Lions as he fell to 5-2-0 on the campaign.

The Lions look to recover from the conference setback on Saturday, October 1, when they travel to Pensacola, Fla. to take on region foe West Florida in non-conference action. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. For the latest news, information, and updates on the men's soccer team, visit SaintLeoLions.com.
