SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's soccer takes to the road for a non-conference matchup against Lynn University Saturday afternoon in Boca Raton, Fla. Kickoff against the Fighting Knights is set for 4 p.m. Fans will be able to catch all of the action live through video, audio, and live stats.
The Lions have opened their 2011 season on a high note, winning five straight to kick off their campaign with a perfect mark of 5-0. Saint Leo took on NAIA No. 4 Robert Morris on September 15, handing the Eagles a 2-1 victory thanks to a game-winning goal from Sam Butterbaugh.
Lynn currently rides an overall record of 4-0-1 after defeating then No. 11 Armstrong Atlantic 2-0 in their season opener, and picking up victories over Belmont Abbey and then No. 18 North Alabama with a 0-0 double overtime draw against Christian Brothers splitting the wins. Most recently, the Fighting Knights defeated the Flagler College Saints 3-1 on September 14.
The Green and Gold currently hold the advantage in the all-time series, 8-5, and have won seven straight against the Fighting Knights. Lynn hasn't come out on top in a matchup since September 28, 2004, when they bested the Lions 1-0 in Boca.
Last time out against the Fighting Knights, Saint Leo made the trek to Boca Raton for a conference tilt on October 9, 2010. Saint Leo made easy work of their opponent and finished the afternoon with a 3-0 victory thanks to goals from Alicia Schuering, Cassie Barbaresi, and Chrissy Darwell.
