MIAMI SHORES, Fla. – The No.24-ranked Saint Leo women’s tennis team (12-5, 0-3 SSC) could not unseat the unbeaten No.4-ranked Barry University Buccaneers (13-0, 3-0 SSC), as they fell in Sunshine State Conference action, 9-0, from the Barry Tennis Center.
In the loss, the Lions saw their five match win streak broken while remaining winless in the SSC.
On the doubles side, the Lions No.3 slotted pair of Jeanette McDonald and Adrianna Daszkiewicz provided the Lions closets contest as they were edged by Julie Stas and Olivia Matuszak, 8-6.
Meanwhile, the Lions top pair of Bethania Laan and Laura Kemkes suffered an 8-2 loss while Selma Hidass and Caroline Ebner were dealt an 8-5 defeat at No.2.
In singles action, the Lions Selma Hidass gave the Green & Gold their best shot at victory, but she eventually fell to Gwizdowski 6-3, 6-1 in the No.4 slot.
Saint Leo will get a one day break before taking on SSC counterpart and No.3-ranked Lynn University in Sunshine State Conference action. First serve is set for 3:00 p.m. from the Saint Leo Tennis Center.
