SAINT LEO, Fla. – It's Senior Night and the Lions will celebrate the careers of three graduating teammates as they finish off the home portion of the 2011 season when the match up against Florida Southern College tonight.
The Lions will recognize the achievements and careers of Emily Calderon-Reyes, Corey Ryan and Danielle Bletso with pregame ceremonies before turning their attention to their visitors from Lakeland, Fla.
Florida Southern comes in with a 13-12 overall record as the Moccasins are 7-5 in the Sunshine State Conference. The Lions, off a straight-sets loss to No. 22 Eckerd College on Tuesday, have the opposite record of the Mocs at 12-13 and 5-8 in the SSC.
The Lions last met the Moccasins on October 8 when the host Mocs came out on the winning end of a 3-1 (25-15, 22-25, 25-15, 25-23) clash in Lakeland.
Down to the host Mocs two sets to one, Saint Leo led for almost the entire fourth set as they tried to push the match to its full course. The Lions scored the first four points of the set and the Moccasins didn't pull even until 21. After ties at 22 and 23, back-to-back Saint Leo errors gave the Moccasins the final two points to clinch the match. Lauren Huber had just one attack error for the match and hit .517. Diana Castrillon added 11 kills and hit .375, while Erin Callahan delivered 10 kills and hit .400.
Saint Leo was led by Danielle Bletso, who produced 17 kills, hit .433 and collected three blocks.
