Men’s Soccer Cracks NSCAA Top-25

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s soccer team broke into the latest edition of the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top-25, it was announced Wednesday. In the poll, the Lions jumped to No. 22 after one week of regular season action.

Saint Leo started the 2010 season in impressive fashion, defeating the formally No.20-ranked Carson-Newman Eagles, 5-1, in road regional play.

The squads momentum carried over to their contest with Tennessee Temple, where they duplicated their offensive effort from the previous game upending the Crusaders, 5-0.

This is the first appearance for the Green & Gold in the top-25 since September 7, 2008.

Lynn (5) and Barry (15) are the other two Sunshine State Conference schools to join Saint Leo in the top-25.

The Lions also find themselves third in the NSCAA/HendrickCars.com Regional Rankings, behins SSC foes Lynn and Barry.

Saint Leo returns to the pitch on Wednesday, September 8, when they take on Warner in non-conference action. The game will be broadcast live on Penn Atlantic begining at 7:00 p.m.
