SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s soccer team is heading to Lakeland, Fla. tonight for a conference and regional showdown with Sunshine State Conference rival Florida Southern, in attempts to collect their first SSC victory.
The Lions come into tonight’s game with a 5-2 overall mark and a three-match winning streak over the Moccasins, including a 3-1 triumph over FSC last year at University Field. While trying to extend their winning streak over the Mocs, Saint Leo is also trying to rebound from of a 2-1 home loss, suffered at the hands of Tampa last Friday.

In addition, despite the Lions dropping a 2-1 contest to the Spartans last week, Saint Leo has re-entered the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) top-25 poll. The Green & Gold claim the No. 21 position and marks the third time the Lions have been ranked in the coaches’ poll this season. Saint Leo has been ranked as high as eighth in the country this year.
Also, the Lions maintain the third spot in the latest NSCAA/HendrickCars.com South Region, trailing only SSC competitors Tampa and Rollins.
The first NCAA South Region Poll is set to debut in the near future.
