LAKELAND, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s tennis team (3-20) dropped their season finale in straight sets to No. 44 Florida Tech (10-15) in the SSC Championsips, by a 5-0 final, on Friday at the Beerman Tennis Center in Lakeland, Fla.
The Lions fell in two straight singles contest, as Edmond, Okla. native Michael Calloway dropped his match to Cody Hodes in straight sets 6-3, 6-0, while Madison Conn. native Jeff Hanrahan dropped his match to Drew Hollis 6-0, 6-1.
The squad was upended in each of their three doubles matches. The junior tandem of Pablo Chavez and Richard Maclachlan gave the Panthers their toughest battle of the day. The two dropped the set by a score of 8-6. The Lions also fell in their other two doubles contest with identical 8-3 scores.
Playing their final match of the year SLU looks forward to next year, as they return all their starters. Florida Tech will advance to the fifth place contest against Eckerd College.
