LAKELAND, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s tennis team opened up the 2010 Sunshine State Conference Tennis Championships as they dropped into the back draw with a 5-0 loss to No. 5 Barry on Thursday evening at the Dave Beerman Tennis Complex.

The Lions dropped all three doubles games en route to the loss.  The Sunshine State Conference mandates that tournament matches only need to be played until one team has achieved the necessary five points to advance to the next round, which led to the 5-0 final score.

Saint Leo (3-19) will now face Florida Tech in the first round of the back draw on Friday morning.  Florida Tech, the tournament’s sixth seed, dropped a 5-0 decision to #3 Florida Southern earlier in the day.  Match time is set for 11:30 a.m. at the Beerman Complex in Lakeland.
