BASEBALL FALLS IN FINAL ROAD TRIP

BABSON PARK, Fla. – In their second meeting in as many days, the Saint Leo baseball team could not repeat its comeback win over Webber International University from Wednesday night as the Lions fell 19-5 to the Warriors as SLU traveled to Webber’s campus in the middle of the State of Florida.

In their final road contest of 2009, the Lions saw the Webber bats blister their pitching as the hosts racked up 20 hits in what was the final game of the season for the Warriors.

After the Lions posted a 1-0 lead in the top of the second, Webber plated three in the bottom of the frame, two in the next two innings and then dropped a seven-run fifth inning to put the game away.

Senior MJ Wilson was the main difference-maker as he blasted two homers in the game, went 3-for-5 and posted six RBI.

Although the Lions only managed five hits and faced five Webber pitchers, Jonathan Duncan managed to posted three RBI on the evening.

The Lions will take over a week’s rest before the return to Thomas B. Southard Stadium for their final Sunshine State Conference series of 2009.  Saint Leo will face Florida Tech in a three-game set beginning on Saturday with a doubleheader.  First pitch is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
