MEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO NO. 35 FLAGLER 9-0

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men’s tennis team (4-10) lost a non-conference match to the No. 35-ranked Flagler College men, Thursday evening from the SLU Tennis Center.

The Lions battled throughout the match but couldn’t register a win against the talented Saints’ squad.

The Lions with the best opportunities at victory were Pablo Chavez and Jose Morales and both were in singles play. Chavez, who was playing at No. 1 singles, fell in the first set 6-3. Still, Chavez did not quit forcing a second set tiebreaker. The effort wasn’t enough though as David Cotroue pulled away for a 7-2 tiebreaker win and 7-6 set victory. Diego Timoteo also had a near victory for the Green & Gold, as he collected a first set 6-0 win at No. 5 doubles. But JP Ilano regained control of the match winning the next two matches, 6-3, 6-2 completing the shutout

The Lions now turn their attention to Division 1 opponent Army – West Point. The non-conference match is set for 3:00 pm from the SLU Tennis Center.
