WINTER PARK, Fla. - The Saint Leo men's basketball team traveled to
Rollins College and saw the Tars snap the Lions' five-game win-streak
with a 75-67 Sunshine State Conference defeat on Wednesday night at
Rollins' Warden Arena.
After holding a decent lead through most of the first half, and heading
into halftime with a two-point advantage, the Lions couldn't answer the
Tars' three-pointers in the second half as Rollins sank 13 treys to
push ahead of the Lions.
A very physical game saw the referees dish out three technicals,
including two to the Lions, which saw Rollins sink all of the
free-throws on the penalties, which seemingly put the game out of reach
for the Lions.
It also seemed that Saint Leo was not able to get the rebounds when
they needed them the most, as the clock was winding down in the final
five minutes and the game still very much in doubt. One play saw
Rollins get three offensive boards before draining a three-pointer to
put the score at 71-62 with just two-and-a-half minutes left.
Quentin Cullop and Matt Salay each scored 20 points in the loss while
Josue Vazquez dropped in 10 points and 10 rebounds for the only
double-double for either team. Jordan Prais pulled down 14 rebounds
for the game's lead.
The Lions will try to rebound from their first loss in six outings as
they return home to face Florida Tech on Saturday afternoon. Tip-off
of the Sunshine State Conference game is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at the
Marion Bowman Activities Center on the Saint Leo campus.
