SAINT LEO UNIVERSITY LACROSSE TEAM FALLS 10-4 TO CATAWBA COLLEGE IN DEEP SOUTH CONFERENCE GAME

Charlotte, N.C. (April 6, 2008) – The Saint Leo University lacrosse team (6-6, 0-2 DSC) fell 10-4 to Catawba College (6-5, 3-0 DSC) in a Deep South Conference game played at Queens University in Charlotte, N.C. on Sunday night..

Benjamin Brigham (Jr., Scituate, Mass.) led Saint Leo with two goals in the contest.  Catawba got four goals from Sean Duggan, three from Nick Desper and two goals and two assists from Kurt Green in the win.

The Indians got off to a fast start, taking a 2-0 lead in the opening 2:54 of the game.  However, the Lions roared back to tie the game with two goals in a 37-second span.  Nick Bova (So., Eureka, Mo.) got the Lions on the scoreboard and Brigham tied the game with 9:07 left in the opening quarter.

Catawba regained the lead for good with a late first quarter goal, and the Indians outscored the Lions 3-0 in the second quarter to take a 6-2 lead at half-time.

Brigham opened the scoring in the second half, but Catawba scored a pair of man-up goals to take an 8-3 lead into the fourth quarter.  The Lions were unable to rally any further, as they were outscored 2-1 again in the final quarter to provide the final margin.

The Lions will continue their road trip with another Deep South Conference game at Wingate University on Tuesday at 3:30 p.m.
