SAINT LEO UNIVERSITY BASEBALL TEAM SWEPT BY LYNN UNIVERSITY IN SSC DOUBLEHEADER

Boca Raton, Fla. (March 29, 2008) – The Saint Leo University baseball team (22-13, 5-6 SSC) was swept in a Sunshine State Conference doubleheader at Lynn University (24-10, 8-2 SSC) on Saturday afternoon in Boca Raton, Fla.  Lynn won 13-4 and wrapped up the sweep of the three-game series with a 16-2 win in game two.

Lynn used a five-run first inning and a six-run third inning to open up a big lead in game one and cruised to the win.  The Lions trailed 13-0, plating their only runs of the game with a single run in the sixth and a three-run ninth inning.  Lynn DH Nicholas Bleau was 2-for-4 with seven RBI and a pair of home runs in the game one win.

In game two, Lynn opened up another big lead in the first three innings, as a nine-run second inning helped the home team build a 14-0 lead.  Jonathan Duncan (Jr., Starke, Fla.) provided the only offense for the Lions with a two-run homer in the fifth inning.

The Lions return to the diamond on Tuesday night at Tampa, Fla. when they will face two-time defending NCAA Division II National Champion University of Tampa.  First pitch is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
