SAINT LEO MEN’S TENNIS FALLS TO COLGATE UNIVERSITY IN NON-CONFERENCE ACTION

Saint Leo, Fla. (March 20, 2008) – The Saint Leo Men’s Tennis team (1-9) fell to the Colgate University Red Raiders 7-2, Thursday afternoon at the SLU Tennis Center.

The Lions record one point in doubles action and pick up their second point in singles action.

In doubles action, the duo of Brandon Stacey (Sr., Galesburg, Ill.) and Saif Noorsumar (Sr., Karachi, Pakistan) finally broke through with a doubles victory this afternoon. The duo had been close in the past but finally put it together in impressive fashion. The pair started quickly and didn’t let up against the Colgate duo en route to their 8-5 match win.

Stacey took the momentum from the doubles victory and used it against his opponent in singles action. Stacey dropped the first set 7-5, but rallied back in the second (6-2) and third sets (6-3) to pick up his second point of the day. David Farinez (Sr., Puerto Orvaz) also had an impressive outing. He would win the opening set against his opponent 6-3, but dropped the next two 3-6, 2-6.
