SAINT LEO UNIVERSITY LACROSSE TEAM FALLS 11-7 TO MARS HILL COLLEGE IN DEEP SOUTH CONFERENCE GAME

Mars Hill, N.C. (March 31, 2007) – The Saint Leo lacrosse team (5-6, 1-2 DSC) fell 11-7 on the road to Mars Hill College (6-4, 2-1 DSC)  in a Deep South Conference game Saturday afternoon at The Quarry in Mars Hill, N.C.

Three Lions players registered a goal and an assist in the game, while Ben Brigham (So., Scituate, Mass.) scored a pair of goals on the afternoon.

MHC goalie Nick Sigona made 15 saves and held St. Leo to just the seven goals in the game.  David Erdman (Fr., Mt. Sinai, N.Y.) played 58 minutes in goal for SLU and made 11 saves.

After the Lions took a 2-1 the first quarter, MHC out scored SLU 3-2 in the second quarter to tie the contest at four-all at halftime.

The third quarter was the decisive period of the contest, as MHC outscored SLU 4-1 to take an 8-5 advantage into the final quarter. Mars Hill then outscored Saint Leo 4-3 in the final quarter to win by a four-goal margin.
 
MHC outshot SLU 38-to-31 and won the ground ball battle, 40-to-26. Mars Hill also won 14-of-22 face-offs in the game.

Saint Leo will host Pfeiffer University next Saturday in the final home game of the 2007 season.  The day will mark Senior Day at University Field with game time scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
