SAINT LEO SOFTBALL TEAM SWEEPS WEST LIBERTY STATE COLLEGE WITH PAIR OF BIG WINS

Saint Leo, Fla. (March 15, 2007) – Senior centerfielder Christina Van Tassel (Valparaiso, Fla.) went a combined 5-for-6 with two home runs, seven RBI and five runs scored to help the Saint Leo softball team (15-11) stretch its winning streak to seven games with a doubleheader sweep of visiting West Liberty State College (1-12).

The Lions won game one 14-0 in five innings before completing the sweep with a 10-1 win in another five inning contest.  Saint Leo has now won 12 of its last 13 games.

Saint Leo also had big days from Ashley Urbanik (So., Riverview, Fla.) and Alison Flynn (Sr., Miami, Fla.).  Urbanik was 3-for-5 with five RBI, a homer and two runs, while Flynn was a combined 4-for-6 with five RBI, three doubles and four runs scored.

Urbanik was the winning pitcher in game one, as she allowed just one hit in the five inning shutout victory.  The sophomore improved to 10-6 with the win.  Kiki VonHolt (Jr., New Port Richey, Fla.) then went the distance in game two, allowing one run on four hits to even her record at 5-5.

Saint Leo will host Albany State University in a doubleheader tomorrow at University Field.  Game one will begin at 5:00 p.m.
