SAINT LEO MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM EDGED 55-54 BY NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY

Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (February 7, 2007) – The Saint Leo men’s basketball team (11-11, 4-7 SSC) was edged 55-54 by Nova Southeastern University (11-11, 6-6 SSC) in a Sunshine State Conference game Wednesday night at NSU’s University Center.

Quentin Cullop (Fr., Winter Haven, Fla.) scored 10 points to lead the Lions, but NSU’s Diego Aguiar registered a double-double with a game-highs in points (15) and rebounds (15).

The game was close throughout with neither team leading by more than nine points.  In a game that featured 10 ties and nine lead changes, the final lead change came with 1:37 left, as Aguiar went 2-of-2 at the free throw line to put the Sharks one and provide the final margin.

Saint Leo had led by nine with 9:37 left in the game, but a 10-2 run helped NSU get back within one before another two ties were followed by Aguiar’s free throws.

Saint Leo will head to Melbourne, Fla. on Saturday to face Florida Tech in another SSC game.  Opening tip is scheduled for 4:00 p.m.
