SAINT LEO MEN’S BASKETBALL TEAM UPENDED 70-57 ON THE ROAD BY ROLLINS COLLEGE

Winter Park, Fla. (January 17, 2007) – The Saint Leo men’s basketball team (8-7, 2-3 SSC) was upended 70-57 by Rollins College (13-3, 4-1 SSC) in a Sunshine State Conference game on Wednesday night in Winter Park, Fla.

Richard Blue (Sr., Miami, Fla.) led Saint Leo with 15 points, while Kyle Rowland (So., North Port, Fla.) also reached double figures with 11 points in the game.

However, the Rollins duo of Jonny Reibel and Isaac Codrey combined for 36 points.  Reibel scored a game-high 20, while Codrey added 16 in the victory.

Saint Leo trailed by 13 at the break after Rollins shot 51.9% (14-of-27) from the field in the opening 20-minutes.  The Tars were 9-of-16 from beyond the three-point arch in the opening half, as they led by as many as 16 points following Blue’s opening basket of the game.

The Lions roared back in the second half with a 18-8 run to close to within three at 48-45 with 9:32 remaining.  However, the Tars went on a 17-4 run to match their largest lead of the game and seal the win.

Saint Leo will stay on the road for its next contest, as the Lions will face Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla. on Saturday.  Opening tip for the men’s game will be at 2:00 p.m.
