SAINT LEO UNIVERSITY WOMEN’S SOCCER TEAM WINS FOURTH STRAIGHT WITH 3-0 SHUTOUT OVER FLAGLER COLLEGE

St. Augustine, Fla. (October 14, 2006) – The Saint Leo women’s soccer team (11-2-1, 4-2 SSC) won its fourth straight game with a 3-0 shutout of Flagler College (2-11-1) on the road Saturday in non-conference play.

SLU sophomore goalkeeper Lauren Hudson (Odessa, Fla.) set a new program record for shutouts in a single season with her eighth clean sheet of 2006, making four saves in the match.  Hudson also tied Amber Ferrol for the program record in career shutouts with her 11th in just 27 career matches.

The Lions earned their fourth straight win with a strong second half performance, which was spearheaded by sophomore midfielder Bridget Godwin (Ocean Springs, Miss.) who delivered a goal and an assist in the game.  SLU freshman Sara Macko (Brandon, Fla.) scored what turned out to be the game-winning goal in the 70th minute.

Godwin delivered an assist on Saint Leo’s second goal of the night, as Evelina Viiri (So., Heby, Sweden) scored her second goal of the season in the 88th minute.   Godwin then turned goal scorer just 1:08 later to seal the victory with her third goal of the campaign.

Saint Leo will return to Sunshine State Conference action on Wednesday, as it takes to the road for the final time in the 2006 regular season.  The Lions will face Florida Tech in Melbourne, Fla. at 4:00 p.m.
