Kent Reiber, is entering his seventh full season as head coach for Saint Leo's cross country and track programs in 2020, after spending four seasons as an assistant coach. He was named the Lions' head coach on May 27, 2015.
In his six seasons as the head coach of the men’s cross country program, Reiber has coached three Sunshine State Runners of the Year, 18 All-SSC performers and one SSC Freshman of the Year. He is a three-time SSC Coach of the Year and was named the United States Track & Field Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) South Region Coach of the Year in 2015. He also saw one of his runners named the USTFCCCA South Region Runner of the Year in 2017. In just his second season at the helm he helped Rafal Matuszczak become the program’s first All-American. He has also led 13 athletes to USTFCCCA All-Region honors on the cross country course as well.
The men have won three SSC titles under his direction and also captured the NCAA South Region crown in 2015.
On the women’s side, Reiber coached Colett Rampf to three All-American honors over her final three seasons on the cross country team. He also helped her capture three South Region Individual Championships, three Sunshine State Conference Championships and three SSC Runner of the Year honors. Eighteen of his athletes have been named All-SSC in just five seasons while Rampf earned USTFCCCA South Region Runner of the Year three times under his watch. Reiber is a two-time USTFCCCA South Region Coach of the Year and has been named SSC Coach of the Year once. A total of 15 student-athletes have been awarded USTFCCCA All-Region honors in just four seasons for the women’s program.
The women have won one SSC Championship and one NCAA South Region Championship under his guidance.
On the track, Reiber has guided 15 men’s athletes and 11 women’s athletes to USTFCCCA All-Region honors. The women’s team has been honored three times on the USTFCCCA All-Academic list while the men have picked up the honor twice. Reiber has seen his student-athletes earn four CoSIDA Academic All-America honors with two on the men’s side and two on the women’s while a total of six have enjoyed Academic All-District honors. He also helped guide Rampf to four All-American honors over her final three seasons on the track. The men saw their first All-American honored in 2019 as Shane Bracken finished eighth in the 1,500m at the NCAA Championships.
Reiber served as the program’s interim head coach from mid-April 2015 until he was named head coach in May of the same year. He was instrumental in coaching Saint Leo men’s and women’s cross country to Sunshine State Conference Championships in 2014, the first conference titles in either program’s history.
Saint Leo men’s cross country runners claimed back-to-back SSC individual titles under Reiber’s tutelage as an assistant coach in 2013 and 2014, while Valentin Lenz was named the 2013 USTFCCCA South Region Athlete of the Year. In women’s cross country, Reiber helped coach a pair of women’s SSC individual champions in Tereza Novotna (2011) and Colett Rampf (2014).
Novotna became Saint Leo’s first qualifier for the NCAA Division II Cross Country National Championship, after finishing second in a photo-finish at the 2011 NCAA South Region meet.
In Spring 2015, Reiber coached Rampf (women’s 3000m steeplechase) and Herns Agyemang-Duah (men’s 800m) to appearances at the 2015 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships.
