MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. –The Saint Leo men's track team competed at the Myrtle Beach Collegiate Challenge over the weekend. Overall, Saint Leo placed eighth among the 26 men's teams at the challenge.
Arthur Cosson highlighted the Lions' events winning the men's 10,000-meter race and placing second in the 3,000-meter event.
Cosson topped all completion in the 10,000-meter race with a time of 30:52.52. Cosson was followed closely by
Lucas Liard in second place with a time of 30:55.98 and Albert Lared in fifth place, crossing the line at 33:45.61. In the 3,000-meter, Cosson finished in 8:45.90 for second, registering eight points for the Green and Gold.
Aidan O'Leary finished sixth in the 1500-meter race with a time of 4:06.49 followed by teammate
Yassin Raffay in 10
th place (4:14.85).
In the 800-meter event,
Brandon Castillo crossed the finish line with a time of 2:09.45 to finish fourth.
In shorter distance events,
Jhovan Martin finished fourth in the men's 200 meters with a final time of 22.64, earning 4.5 points for the Lions.
Reuel Belazaire followed Martin's performance with a seventh place 400-meter time to add two points to the team's tally. The freshman handed in a final time of 53.02 seconds.
The Lions return to the track on Saturday, March 19 at the University of South Florida starting at 11:00 a.m.
