Kendrick Takes Charge as Lions Down Florida College

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo men’s basketball team got the perfect prescription for what had ailed them over the last five games as the Lions snapped their losing streak behind a 95-71 victory over Florida College in non-conference action from the Marion Bowman Activities Center on Saturday afternoon.

Led by a 21 point night from Matt Kendrick, the Lions took a four point halftime lead and outscored their opponents by 20 points in the second half.  Shooting 56 percent (37-of-66) for the game, the Lions exploded in the second half, connecting on 64 percent of their attempts.

While Saint Leo (10-7) was lighting up their net, the Lions defense was holding the visitors from Temple Terrace, Fla. to just a 39 percent (27-of-69) average as SLU also blocked six shots and swiped 11 steals.

In addition to Kendrick, Quentin Cullop added 12 points with his selective 4-of-6 shooting, and Jeremy Jackson added 11 points, connecting on 5-of-6 shots.

The Lions will get back into conference play on Wednesday night when they travel to Miami Shores, Fla. and face Barry University.  Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at the Health and Sports Center on the Barry University camupus.
