Lawrence, Kan. (June 18, 2008) – Saint Leo University men’s cross country runner and swimmer Javier Beuzeville (Fr., Tampa, Fla.) finished first in the Javelin Ironman 70.3 Collegiate Championship presented by adidas in Lawrence, Kan. this past weekend. As a result of his winning time, Beuzeville qualified for the 2008 Ford 70.3 World Championships in Clearwater Florida this November.
The Kansas Ironman Challenge course featured a 1.2-mile swim, followed by a 56-mile bike ride. The course concluded with a 13.1-mile run.
Beuzeville finished in a total time of 4:23:21.39, outdistancing the second-place finisher by over 14 minutes. The freshman swam the initial stage in a time of 32:21.026 and increased his lead with a time of 2:21:23.400 in the cycling portion. He wrapped up his win in the collegiate championship with a time of 1:27:22.440 in the run.
The 2008 Foster Grant Ironman World Championship 70.3 will take place in Clearwater, Fla. on November 8, 2008.
