Rampf named USTFCCCA D2 National Athlete of the Week

SAINT LEO, Fla. – For the second week in a row, Saint Leo University is home to a U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association National Athlete of the Week.

Saint Leo junior Colett Rampf was tabbed as the USTFCCCA Division II Women's Cross Country National Athlete of the Week on Monday, becoming the first Saint Leo women's cross country athlete to earn the award.

Rampf is coming off a record-setting performance in Saturday's 43rd Annual Lehigh University Paul Short Run. She finished 10th overall in the Paul Short Run's 6K College Gold race with a time of 20:23, cutting 31 seconds off the Saint Leo 6K record she set a year ago at the same event.

Rampf's time was the fastest of any non-Division I runner among the three Paul Short Run races.

"Colett has definitely earned it. She has worked so hard to earn this National Athlete of the Week honor," said Kent Reiber, Saint Leo's head cross country coach. "She set very high goals coming into this season, and has hit every benchmark along the way. We're very blessed to have her work ethic and leadership on our team, and I'm incredibly proud of her."

The Lions' season continues this Saturday, Oct. 8, when they host the Saint Leo Division II National Preview race at The Abbey Golf Course. The men's 8K race begins at 8:00 a.m. followed by the women's 6K race at 9:15 a.m.
