Rampf again claims SSC Runner of the Week honors

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo women's cross country runner Colett Rampf earned her third Sunshine State Conference Runner of the Week award this season on Monday, when she was tabbed with the award for her performance in Saturday's 43rd Annual Lehigh University Paul Short Run.

Rampf finished 10th overall in the Paul Short Run's College Gold race, shattering her own Saint Leo 6K record in the process. She posted a time of 20:23, shaving 31 seconds off the existing Saint Leo 6K mark, set during last season's Paul Short Run.

Rampf turned in the fastest time and highest finish of any non-Division I runner in any of the three Paul Short Run races. The College Gold race, in which Rampf competed, featured 44 teams – 37 of whom were Division I programs – and included three nationally-ranked Division I teams and five others receiving votes, the reigning Division II national champion in Adams State, and three of the top-six Division III programs including reigning D-III national champion Williams College.

The SSC Runner of the Week award is the 11th for Rampf in her three-year career at Saint Leo. The native of Premnitz, Germany, captured the honor four times during both her 2014 rookie season and her 2015 sophomore campaign.

The Lions' season continues this Saturday, Oct. 8, when they host the Saint Leo Division II National Preview race at The Abbey Golf Course. The men's 8K race begins at 8:00 a.m. followed by the women's 6K race at 9:15 a.m.
