Women’s Cross Country Earns Sixth at FSU Invitational

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Freshman Jelena Tancic claimed a sixth place finish in the non-Division I category, helping the Lions to a sixth place team result at the FSU Invitational on Friday evening in Tallahassee, Fla.  The Lions were sixth out of 12 teams, earning 152 points overall.

Tancic completed the 5K course with a time of 18:22.93, good for sixth place out of a total of 118 non-Division I runners.

Natalie McCormick finished next for the Green and Gold, crossing the line at the 19:46.73 mark, followed by Ronja Jaeger with a course completion of 20:09.64.  Grace Lederer was close behind, finishing with a time of 20:29.94.

Shelby Adams earned a time of 20:48.77, while Kylie Fagan completed the race at 21:01.18.  Berlin Waters finished with a time of 21:20.50, with Elizabeth Bruty crossing the tape with a time of 21:38.54.

Lee Ann Antuna, Anet Milian, and Allison Knipe rounded out the squad, finishing with times of 22:07.84, 22:41.96, and 23:48.70, respectively.

Kayleigh Tyerman claimed first place in the non-DI category, running as an unattached runner and finishing with a time of 17:06.16.  Tampa won first in the non-DI division, earning 40 points overall.

The Lions return to action on Saturday, October 26, when they run in the 2013 Sunshine State Conference Championship meet.  Saint Leo will be the host institution for this year's championships, which will be held at The Abbey Golf Course, across the street from University Campus.
