GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Freshman Jelena Tancic made an impact for the Lions, earning a fifth place finish to help the Saint Leo women's cross country team collect fourth place overall at the UF Mt. Dew Invitational, Saturday morning at the Mark Bostick Golf Course.
The Lions finished the morning with 122 points, and finished fourth out of a field of 11 teams. Tampa took first place with 33 points, with Flagler and Nova Southeastern coming in second and third, respectively.
Tancic crossed the finish line with a 6k time of 22:33.15, good for fifth place out of a total of 270 runners.
Senior Andrea Maxwell was next for the Lions, finishing the route in 18th place with a time of 23:33.44. Natalie McCormick was one slot out of the top 20, crossing the line with a total time of 24:02.68.
Anet Milian finished at the 24:46.42 mark, and was followed less than a minute later by Grace Lederer with a time of 25:38.08. Kylie Fagan took home a time of 25:48.54, while Lee Ann Antuna completed the course with a time of 26.39.31.
The Lions return to action on Friday, September 20, when they take part in the National Catholic Championships hosted by the University of Notre Dame. Start time is slated for 4:15 p.m.
