Women’s Cross Country Collects Ninth-Place Finish at USF Invite

TAMPA, Fla. – The Saint Leo women's cross country team collected a ninth-place finish at the USF Bulls Cross Country Invitational, Friday evening from the USF Golf Course.

"Both teams continue to improve each week," said head coach Melissa Miller-Mangen. "Still, while we want our times to be faster, we need to understand that it's the team finish that matters."

The Lions were led by Jillian Browne and her 5K finishing time of 21:39.58. Following Browne was teammate Andrea Maxwell as she closed the race less than a second off her pace at 21:40.19.

Overall, the University of Central Florida earned top individual honors as Anne-Marie Blaney earned medalist credit posting a time of 18:36.59. The University of Tampa took home the team championship as they finished four points ahead of Central Florida with 57 points.

Shelby Adams and Kylie Fagan also finished near the top-half of the 120-person field for the Green and Gold as they finished with times of 22:20.21 and 22:27.98, respectively.

Lee Ann Antuna crossed the tape at 24:02.57, while Kelsey Bradley, Christine Hartley, and Alison Knipe wrapped-up the Lions evening with strong finishes.

The Lions will return to the course on Saturday, September 15, when they travel to Gainesville, Fla. to compete in the UF Invitational. The races is scheduled to go off at 8:30 a.m.
