Volleyball tabbed as No. 2 in the first South Region rankings

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo volleyball team got good news on Wednesday afternoon as the NCAA released their first regional rankings report, and the Lions found themselves fall in at No. 2 in the powerful South Region.

The Lions, who are 17-8, 9-2 SSC, have wins over five AVCA Top-25 opponents this season, three of which count as 'In Region' wins. The Lions topped Tampa, who held No. 16 and 20 rankings, twice, and earned a 3-0 sweep of No. 24 Florida Southern. Saint Leo also holds a 6-4 record over the other top 10 teams in the first South Region ranking.

This marks the highest opening NCAA regional ranking the Lions have earned since the 2009 season when they were tabbed as the No. 1 team in the South.

Saint Leo returns to action on Thursday, Nov. 3 at 7 p.m. to take on Florida Tech and then hits the road this weekend to take on Lynn and Barry.
