Volleyball drops match to Valdosta State, 3-0

ORLANDO, Fla. – The Saint Leo volleyball fell on Saturday morning to Valdosta State, 3-0; 25-21, 26-24, 25-21, at the Orlando Sports Center in their second match of the 2016 South Region Crossover Tournament.

Senior Hope Lemon provided the offense for the Lions, as she put down 17 kills on the day while hitting .308 in the match. She added two service aces, along with four digs. Avery Bradshaw added eight kills in two sets while adding two blocks.

Saint Leo put down 45 kills, while VSU only put down 38, but the Blazers were more efficient while committing just 12 hitting errors.

Jamee Townsend was the lone Lion in double-digit digs, adding 10, while Reggie Van Devender added seven. VSU saw Sydney Chick scoop up 12 digs, while Carly Smart added 11, and Susanna Peonia added 10. Peonia added eight digs, eight blocks, and a service ace.

The Lions return to the court on Saturday, Oct. 15 at 4:45 p.m. as they take on North Alabama in their third match of the 2016 South Region Crossover.
