DENVER, Colo. – The Saint Leo volleyball team wrapped up play at the 2016 Colorado Premier Challenge with a 3-0; 25-22, 25-18, 25-15, loss to Colorado School of Mines in the Silver Bracket third-place match on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions, who are now 5-3 on the season, looked to bounce back from a 3-0 loss to Regis to start the day on Saturday, but with the second match happening within an hour of the conclusion of the first, the Lions ran out of energy against Mines.
Mines, 6-3 on the year, used a highly efficient offense against Saint Leo to help secure the match in just three sets, limiting themselves to just 12 hitting errors in the three sets. The Lions committed 24 hitting errors.
Offensively, senior Hope Lemon led with 10 kills, while sophomore Avery Bradshaw added eight kills and six digs. Freshman Annabella Arcari tallied five errorless kills for a clip of .556. Setter Anna Garrett dished out 32 assists, while libero Jamee Townsend added 15 digs.
Mines was led by Ellie Monarch, who put down 13 kills on a clip of .600 while adding four blocks and four digs.
Saint Leo will open up Sunshine State Conference play on Friday, Sept. 16 at Florida Southern with a 7:00 p.m. match.
