Lions Suffer Tough SSC Loss at Hands of Eckerd

SAINT LEO, Fla. – In one of the last Sunshine State Conference matches of the season, the Saint Leo volleyball team fell to the visiting Eckerd College Tritons by a 3-0 score, Tuesday evening from the Marion Bowman Center. The match signaled the Lions' last home contest of the year.

Despite Saint Leo taking an early lead in the first set, the Tritons forced an offensive attack that would allow them to come from behind and take the win. With the lead in their favor, they drove home the match to earn a 3-0 victory (25-19, 25-22, 25-20).

In spite of the loss, junior Lauren Campbell led the Lions in kills on the night, tallying nine. Senior Jordan Sisson, however, hit for .500 percent with her seven-kill effort.

Defensively, senior Molly Alexander and junior Yaidimar Santiago collected ten and nine digs, respectively.

As a team, the Lions tallied four blocks while earning a .205 attack percentage.

The Saint Leo volleyball team will return to action on Friday, November 22 when they travel to Melbourne, Fla. to take on the Florida Tech Panthers in one of their final matches of the 2013 regular season. The contest is slated to begin at 7:00 p.m.
