Saint Leo Downs Warner, 3-0, in Friday Night Action

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Hot off an SSC win over the Florida Southern Mocs, the Saint Leo volleyball team defeated the visiting Warner Royals  by a 3-0 score(25-15, 25-17, 25-19), Friday evening from the Bowman Center. The match marked the first contest between Warner and Saint Leo since 1998, and the win signaled the Lions' first non-region matchup since the end of September.

The Lions' squad came out strong, taking the first set by a score of 25-15 and never looking back. After a 25-17 win in the second set, the Lions capitalized on offense and blasted home a 25-19 set three win to take home the match.

As a team, Saint Leo hit for a .371 hitting percentage in the win. In addition, the Lions collected 48 kills, and held the visiting Royals to a .087 attack percentage.

Offensively, junior Lauren Campbell led the Lions in kills, collecting 12 to lead both teams. In addition, junior Tawni Warren and sophomore Jillian Stolzenburg tallied seven apiece.

Defensively, Yaidimar Santiago collected 16 digs on the evening, while Campbell totaled 13.

Senior setter Jaclyn Mailoto notched 41 assists in the win, bringing her season total to 1044.

The Lions will get back into SSC action when they travel to Winter Park, Fla. to battle Rollins College on Friday, Nov. 8. Game time is slated for 7:00 p.m.
