Cibrone Finalizes Roster with Four Freshman Additions

Cibrone Finalizes Roster with Four Freshman Additions

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Less than a week before Saint Leo University is set to begin its fall semester, head women's volleyball coach Sam Cibrone has announced the addition of four freshmen newcomers to his 2013 roster.

After adding three junior-transfers in early August, Cibrone's seven newcomers brings the total roster size to fifteen.

Hope Lemon
5-9, Outside Hitter, Fr.
Cedar Park, Texas
Cedar Park High School

Originally from Austin, Texas, Lemon attended Cedar Park High School in Cedar Park, Texas. There, she competed under head coach Rebekah Almanza and saw much success. During her sophomore, junior, and senior seasons, she was named to the Dazzling Dozen. In 2012, Lemon was selected to participate in the All-Tournament Westwood Showcase. In addition, she was selected to the All-Tournament Volleyballpalooza in 2012.

Cibrone's Thoughts:  Hope is a great 6 rotation outside hitter with a solid jump serve.  We think she will compete right away for a starting position as she brings more depth to that position.  She was the best hitter on our club team and we feel she can be a solid offensive option for us this year and definitely in the future.

Elizabeth Nizzoli
5-9, Setter, Fr.
Ripon, Calif.
Ripon High School

Hailing from Modesto, California, Nizzoli was a four-year letter-winner at Ripon High School and Ripon, California.

Cibrone's Thoughts:  Elizabeth is a setter who has tons of potential. She is very strong with moving the volleyball around.  In addition, she plays bigger at the net than expected.  We are expecting her to challenge our first team in practice and compete for a position on the court.  A setter always has to be ready to play just like a quarterback, as you never know when you are going to be called upon.

Hannah Pietz
5-9, Libero, Fr.
Lago Vista, Texas
Lago Vista High School

Born in Houston, Texas, Pietz was a varsity letter-winner at Lago Vista High School in Lago Vista, Texas. While there, she competed under head coach Debbie Hansen. While in high school, Pietz also played with the Austin Performance club team under coach Mark Herrin.

Cibrone's Thoughts:  Hannah has played with Hope on the same club team.  She is a very versatile player.  In fact, she has played everything from setter, outside hitter, to libero.  We are counting on her to improve our passing and defense.  She is going to really help our chemistry too.

Jamee Townsend
5-9, Defensive Specialist, Fr.
Thonotosassa, Fla.
Strawberry Crest High School

Originally from Brandon, Florida, Townsend competed at Strawberry Crest High School in Thonotosassa, Florida. While at Strawberry Crest, Townsend played under coach Morgan Miltner. In 2009, she was named to the All-Western Conference Second Team, and was selected to the All-Western Conference First Team in 2010 and 2012. Townsend also competed with the Tampa United Volleyball Academy under coach Brittany Wilson.

Cibrone's Thoughts: Jamee is one of the best student-athletes we have recruited to Saint Leo.  I have known her and the family for many years through my club.  She loves the game and has worked hard to get back to 100% after her knee injury.  She is a great passer and solid defender.  She is always a team player and understands the importance of prioritizing volleyball and school.
