WINTER PARK, Fla. – Saint Leo junior libero Molly Alexander has been named Sunshine State Conference Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week presented by VALIC, it was announced by SSC Commissioner Jay Jones.
A pivotal part of two key SSC victories last week, the Jensen Beach, Fla. native averaged 6.1 digs per set to help lift the Lions to wins over Florida Southern and Nova Southeastern. Alexander collected 31 digs in a five-set upset over the Mocs. She then tallied 18 digs in a three-set sweep over Nova Southeastern. Her defensive efforts helped limit Saint Leo's opponents to a combined .116 attack percentage.
Alexander is one of five Saint Leo student-athletes to be named Player of the Week this fall.
Saint Leo will return to action on Tuesday, October 16, when they host St. Francis in non-region action. First serve is set for 7 p.m. from the Marion Bowman Activities Center.
