Bletso and Calderon-Reyes Close Careers with Weekly Conference Honors
Named the Offensive Player of the Week, middle blocker Danielle Bletso averaged 3.75 kills with a .500 attack percentage as the Lions closed their season with a pair of SSC road victories. In a three-set sweep at Barry, the senior tallied 15 kills with a .542 hitting percentage, as well as one block. In a five-set win at Lynn, the Boardman, Ohio native collected 15 kills with a .467 clip. She also registered a service ace and seven blocks in the contest. Bletso concludes her SLU career ranked fourth on the career kills list with 1,052.
Earning Defensive Player of the Week honors, senior libero Emily Calderon-Reyes averaged 5.0 digs per set to help lift the Lions to a pair of SSC wins. The Caguas, Puerto Rico native collected 17 digs in a sweep at Barry. Her efforts helped limit the Buccaneers to a .106 attack percentage. She then gathered 23 digs in a five-set victory at Lynn.
The Lions closed out the 2011 campaign with a 14-15 overall record and finished 7-9 in the SSC.
