Lions Unable to Rebound against North Alabama

ST. PETERBURG, Fla. - The Saint Leo volleyball team was unable to rebound from their Friday night setback to Florida Southern as the Lions dropped a 3-1 (27-29, 25-22, 25-14, 25-15) decision to North Alabama in a non-conference match that was played at Eckerd College's McArthur Center on Saturday.

The match started nicely for Saint Leo (12-15) as the Lions rebounded from a 22-17 deficit to claim the first set in extra points.  Unfortunately for Saint Leo fans, that would be the only highlight of the day for the Green and Gold as North Alabama (23-8) dominated the remaining sets, holding a .361 attack average for the remainder to claim the match and the season sweep over Saint Leo.

Freshman Lauren Campbell impressed in the loss with 16 kills on 45 swings.  Senior Danielle Bletso also reached double-digits in kills with 11 to go along with three blocks.  Jaclyn Mailoto added 36 set assists for the Lions.

For the opposing Lions from UNA, Natalie Marsh has a game-high 18 kills and three blocks.  Priscella Massengale added 14 kills and hit .393 in the win.

The Lions will try and break the winless streak during the final weekend of the regular season when they head to south Florida for an SSC double-dip.  The weekend will first get underway when the Lions face Barry University in Miami Shores, Fla. on Friday night.  For the latest news, updates, and information on Lions Volleyball, visit SaintLeoLions.com.
