SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo volleyball team opened up home Sunshine State Conference play in dominating fashion with a 3-0 (25-19, 25-21, 25-15) win over visiting Florida Tech on Friday night. The win marks the Lions' second SSC conquest in a week as Saint Leo is now 6-3 overall and 2-0 in the SSC. Florida Tech falls to 3-7 and 0-2 in conference play.
All 15 Lions managed to see court time as Saint Leo combined to hit .294 through the three sets while holding the visitors to a measly .096 attack average. The Lions also kept Florida Tech to 46 percent effectiveness on the sideout. In the three sets, the Lions saw four players hit over .400. It was also a match where Saint Leo took advantage of the visitor's mistakes with Florida Tech having a combined 27 attack and service errors.
Meghan Donovan, continuing to solidify her role in the starting lineup, connected on 11 kills and hit .500. Hitting true on every swing, senior Danielle Bletso was 6-for-9 with a .667 average in the victory while freshman Lauren Campbell was also perfect connecting on eight kills with no errors. Another freshman, Tawni Warren, came off the bench to blast four kills in only the third set.
In setting duties, Alexa Reed helped with 21 attacks and had three service aces.
