Agyemang-Duah and Maxwell have top showings in the 800-meters
SAINT LEO, Fla. – The Saint Leo University men's and women's track teams took part in the UNF Invitational, on Saturday, held at the University of North Florida's Hodges Stadium in Jacksonville. The Lions recorded a total of five top-10 finished on the day.
Herns Agyemang-Duah continues to shine in his first year of track. Agyemang-Duah won the men's 800-meter run in a time of 1:52.36, just under a second-and-a-half in front of the second place finisher.
Carl Dunne posted a seventh place finish in the men's 1,500-meter run in a time of 4:03.51.
In the 5,000-meters, the Lions' Valentin Lenz finished fifth in a time of 15:57.92, while Rafael Lohner crossed the finish line in a time of 16:37.07, which was good enough for 10th.
The women's top performance of the day – and their only top-10 finish of the afternoon – came from Andrea Maxwell, in the women's 800-meters, with a ninth place finish in a time of 2:18.20.
In other men's action; in the 800-meters, Niclas Bez took 14th in a time of 2:00.34 and Kevin Papac was 18th in a time of 2:09.77. Patrick Hill finished in 21st a time of 2:15.73.
In the 1,500-meters, James Mullin finished the race just outside the top-10, in 11th, in a time of 4:07.47. Steven Brown was 13th running the event in 4:11.75, and Kyle Vanburen was 16th in a time of 4:30.45.
In addition to Lenz and Lohner in the 5,000-meters, the Lions also had four other competitors in the event.
Adam Urbanik had a solid showing finishing 11th in a time of 17:16.28, while David Hill took 13th in 17:19.09. Matthew Basis was 16th in 18:54.90, and Kevin Papac rounded out the competitors in the event finishing 17th in a time of 18:55.62.
The Lions also had two participants in the men's long jump. Thomas Watson took 12th jumping a distance of 19-09 inches. Gabe Keown finished 18th with a leap of 14-feet even.
On the women's side, Kylie Fagan was the top finisher in the 1,500-meters, crossing the finish line in 11th in a time of 5:16.58. Shelby Adams ran the race in 5:20.36 and Grace Lederer in 5:23.62 for 12th and 13th, respectively.
Joining Maxwell in the 800-meter run was also Fagan and Adams. Fagan finished 16th in a time of 2:36.11, and Adams in 17th in 2:40.50.
The Lions will return to action on May 9 when they compete at the Seminole Twilight Invitational at the Mike Long Track in Tallahassee, Fla.
