Bueno named CoSIDA Men's At-Large Academic All-District

SAINT LEO, Fla. – Saint Leo men's tennis athlete Jaime Bueno was named to the 2017 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Men's At-Large Team District 5 team that was announced on Thursday afternoon.

In 2017, Bueno finished with a 15-0 record in singles play, while going 10-5 in doubles play. He finished the season with an 8-1 run in doubles matches with partner Willem Van Den Akker.

The junior from Santiago, Chile was recently named both the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) National and South Region Player to Watch. He also was named to the 2017 All-Sunshine State Conference First Team for his play at No. 3 singles and earned one SSC Male Tennis Athlete of the Week honor during the season.

Bueno holds 3.83-grade point average while majoring in economics.

The 2016-17 College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District™ Men's At-Large Team are selected by the Districts Sports Information Directors to recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. The Men's At-Large teams include athletes from fencing, golf, gymnastics, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming, tennis, volleyball, water polo and wrestling.

First-team Academic All-District™ honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America® honorees will be selected later this month.
