#4 Women's tennis dominates West Virginia State, 9-0

SAINT LEO, Fla. – The No. 4 Saint Leo women's tennis team swept West Virginia State, 9-0, on Monday afternoon as the Lions improved their record to 4-5 on the season.

Saint Leo jumped out to a commanding lead with a 3-0 lead after doubles. The Lions switched things around as Marine Beugre-Guyot paired with Kristyna Jurkova at No. 1 and the duo claimed their match, 8-1. At Flight No. 2, Maja Pindelska teamed with Madeleine Gauthier for an 8-5 win, while Fabiola Cardenas and Katherine Zaatini won 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.

Zaatini then snagged the first singles point for the Lions, as the senior won No. 6 flight, 6-3, 6-0.

Beugre-Guyot handled No. 1's with a 6-1, 6-0 win, while Jurkova won 6-1, 6-3, at No. 3.

Cardenas added a No. 4 win with a 6-2, 6-2 score, while Gauthier won 6-1, 6-1.

The lone battle of a match for singles was at No. 2 Flight as Pindelska took the ninth point for the Lions, 6-4, 2-6, 11-9.

Saint Leo returns to action on Saturday, March 25 for a 12 p.m. match as the Lions host Embry-Riddle.
