#4 Women's tennis falls to #6 Barry, 9-0

Miami Shores, Fla. – The No. 4 Saint Leo women's tennis team fell to No. 6 Barry, 9-0, on Sunday afternoon in Sunshine State Conference action.

In doubles action, Kristyna Jurkova and Madeleine Gauthier had the closest match at No. 2 doubles ad they fell 8-5 to Dasha Salnikova and Zuza Maciejewska. At No. 3, Fabiola Cardenas and Katherine Zaatini fell 8-4 at No. 3, while Marine Beugre-Guyot and Maja Pindelska lost their match, 8-2.

At No. 1 singles, Beugre-Guyot, the No. 24 singles player in the nation, battled with No. 18 Dasha Salnikova but fell 6-2, 6-4.

Pindelska fell to Isa Rapisarda Calvo, 6-0, 6-4, at No.2, while No. 22 Sonja Larsen topped Jurkova, 6-1, 6-1, at No. 3.

Fabiola Cardenas battled at No. 4, but fell to Verna Schmid, 6-3, 6-2, while Gauthier fell to Ana Pain, 6-2, 6-2.

Zaatini wrapped up the match with a 6-4, 6-2 loss to Judith Bohnenkamp.

Saint Leo is now 2-3, 1-2 SSC. The next match the Lions will have is Wednesday, March 1 at 3:30 p.m. at Rollins.
