Sixth-Ranked Lions to Match Up with No. 12 California (Pa.) in Quarterfinals
SAINT LEO, Fla. - After upsetting the No. 3-ranked BYU-Hawaii Seasiders in the NCAA Championship Round of 16 on Wednesday afternoon, the sixth-ranked Saint Leo women's tennis team prepares to take on No. 12 California University of Pennsylvania on Thursday morning at 9 a.m. Fans who cannot make it to Sanlando Park in Altamonte Springs, Fla., can follow the action live through live stats provided by the Sunshine State Conference. Saint Leo will be playing on courts 1-7 on Thursday morning, and will not be on the live video feed, which features courts 11-13.
In an epic battle that lasted more than six hours and 20 minutes, the sixth-ranked Saint Leo women's tennis team came back from behind to upset No. 3 BYU-Hawaii, 5-4 on Wednesday afternoon at Sanlando Park. The Lions made their mark in a big way, handing BYU-Hawaii just their 10th loss in its 16 seasons as an NCAA program. The Lions also give the Seasiders (25-1) their first loss of their 2014 campaign, and bounce the national powerhouse out of the tournament in the Round of 16. Saint Leo, who improve to an overall mark of 21-5, advances to yet another program first, the Quarterfinals of the NCAA DII Championships.
